Waking up in the morning
By Dr Satish Prakash

This Mantra is like a daily owner’s manual for your mind and body, showing us how to stay balanced from morning until night.
Agni — dawn
It begins at dawn, focusing on Agni, the pure light and energy that created the universe. When we tune into this energy, we wake up our own inner intelligence and find the physical and mental balance we need to be successful in everyday life while staying spiritually connected.
Mitra and Varuna — sunrise
As the sun comes up, the Mantra focuses on our breathing through Mitra and Varuna. By taking deep, steady breaths, we balance two sides of our body: the inhale acts like a gas pedal that makes us alert and focused, while the exhale acts like a brake that calms our nerves and lowers stress. This steady breathing keeps our mind clear and gives our cells fresh energy.
Raatri — night
We can keep this energy going all day without burning out because the Mantra completely changes how we look at the night (Raatri). Instead of seeing the dark as something scary, we see it as a beautiful, quiet shelter meant for letting our senses rest, letting our bodies heal, and recharging our batteries.
Savitaa — the morning sun
Finally, waking up refreshed from a good night’s sleep, we connect with Savitaa, the morning sun. Just like the physical sun wakes up the world, our inner sun wakes up our minds, inspires our creativity, and pushes us to go out and do good things in the world.
