Course introduction
A preliminary introduction to the ancient written Sanskrit language.
This course is designed for students with little to no prior knowledge of Sanskrit. It focuses on developing basic language skills for communication, including speaking, listening, reading, and writing.
Course objectives
- 01Read and write the Devanagari Script.
- 02Know and practice the proper pronunciation of Sanskrit.
- 03Understand and apply the Sandhi rules with vowels and Visarga.
- 04Learn the eight cases in Sanskrit through the declension of Masculine and Feminine nouns.
- 05Differentiate and apply the four different conjugation verb groups.
- 06Conjugate verbs in different tenses and moods.
- 07Distinguish verbs preceded by prepositions and determine their verbal base.
- 08Translate simple to complex sentences from Sanskrit to English and English to Sanskrit.
